About the 1 kg silver bar

Kilo bars carry a much lower premium per ounce than coins and smaller bars, and usually bear the refiner's serial number, weight and fineness.

Silver bars are the most cost-effective way to buy silver, with a premium per ounce well below that of coins. Silver is bulky for its value, so plan your storage: a kilo bar is about the size of a thick paperback, and 100 ounces weighs over 3 kg.

Buying and paying

A 1 kg silver bar is priced live from the silver spot price plus a stated premium of 10%, in US dollars. At checkout your price is locked for 10 minutes while you confirm your order. You then pay by domestic wire transfer or ACH, quoting your order number. We currently charge no sales tax; any use tax your state may require is your responsibility.

Frequently asked questions

How many ounces is a 1 kg silver bar?

A kilo bar holds about 32.15 troy ounces of 999 fine silver.

Why is a kilo bar cheaper per ounce than silver coins?

Bars are simpler to make than coins, and the costs are spread over far more silver, so the premium per ounce is much lower.

How big is a kilo of silver?

Silver is much less dense than gold, so a kilo of silver takes up nearly twice the space of a kilo of gold. Kilo bars are still compact enough to store in a home safe.

Is sales tax charged on silver bullion?

We don't currently charge sales tax, and all prices are in US dollars. Most states exempt investment-grade bullion, but the rules vary and some states do tax silver. You are responsible for any use tax your state may require, so check your own state's rules before buying in bulk.
